Solve a training problem
How to adjust after a missed triathlon workout without cramming
After missing a triathlon workout, review the remaining week before moving anything. Keep the missed session separate from completed training, then decide whether to skip it, shorten it, or move it into a genuinely available slot. Avoid automatically adding it on top of tomorrow’s plan; illness or injury calls for individual guidance.

Inside 140.6
Change the week you actually have
140.6 lets you edit individual sessions and review a proposed rebalance before applying it.

What should you check first?
Write down why the session was missed. A late meeting is a calendar problem; an illness, injury, or persistent exhaustion is a different decision. Software can rearrange dates, but a changed date does not establish that a workout is appropriate for you.
Look at the actual open slots in the rest of the week, including the time needed to get to a pool or prepare your bike. A free hour between commitments may leave much less than an hour for training. If there is no workable slot, leave the session missed rather than pretending the week has extra capacity.
How to adjust the plan in 140.6
Open Plan, then Edit plan. Choose Edit individual sessions to select the affected workout and move, shorten, or mark it missed. Record what you actually performed separately; moving a prescription should not rewrite the history of a completed activity.
For a broader change, use Rebalance this week. Review the proposed changes before applying them. More recovery and Shorter sessions are separate options in the same sheet. Check the resulting dates and durations against your real availability instead of accepting a change just because it was generated.
Common mistakes after missing a workout
Avoid marking an unfinished workout completed to make the calendar look tidy. That obscures the difference between your intention and your training history. Likewise, completing a different activity is useful context, but it does not automatically prove that you fulfilled the original prescription.
A recurring clash deserves a schedule change. If every Thursday swim collides with work, review that slot and your pool access. Repeatedly moving it into Friday only hides the same problem.

Frequently asked questions
Does 140.6 automatically cram missed workouts into tomorrow?
The Plan screen identifies missed work and offers a rebalance action. Review the proposed plan change before applying it; a missed workout is not recorded as completed.
Can I move or shorten an individual session?
Yes. Open Plan, then Edit plan, then Edit individual sessions. Select the workout and review the available actions.
What if I missed training because of injury or illness?
Do not treat a rescheduled workout as clearance to return. Seek appropriate individual guidance and reconsider the plan before resuming.
